Established as a 4-piece in 2022, Mivule plays a unique blend of Reggae, Afrobeat, Dub and World Music. The Vancouver-based band has performed at a number of local festivals including Ignite the Arts Festival (Penticton, BC), Northwest Folklife Festival (Seattle, WA), Robson Valley Music Festival (Dunster, BC), and the African Descent Festival (Vancouver, BC).  In June, 2024, the band travelled to Eastern Canada for their Black Sugar tour, which had them play 9 dates in 7 cities.

Lead singer Brian Baroda draws on his experiences as a South Sudanese refugee to infuse the music with hopeful messages in English and East African languages.  Themes of peace, justice, and love are common in the song lyrics.  After receiving a grant from the Canada Council for the Arts, Mivule released their first album in September, 2024.
